While there is no proven way to prevent arthritis, maintaining a healthy weight and exercising regularly may help reduce your risk.

People who have gout should avoid:

  • Alcohol
  • Organ meats, such as liver and kidney
  • Sardines
  • Anchovies
  • Gravy
