ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic recently launched a newly redesigned version of its consumer health information site, MayoClinic.com. The updated site has many new features and functions to enhance the user's experience.

"Mayo Clinic's core value that the needs of the patient come first is reflected in our commitment to meet the needs of our users in this site redesign," says Roger Harms, M.D., medical editor-in-chief of MayoClinic.com. "For more than a hundred years, millions of people from all walks of life have found answers at Mayo Clinic. These enhancements will allow us to provide useful information and tools to individuals looking for answers to their health questions."

MayoClinic.com's new information architecture aggregates rich, contextually relevant health information and offers more tools that make it even easier for consumers to make better health care decisions.

MayoClinic.com has expanded and updated these site selections:

  • Symptom Checker
  • Symptoms, Tests and Procedures libraries
  • A-Z indexes for easy access
  • Multimedia
  • What's New
  • Resources

A team of physicians, nutritionists, researchers and Web professionals work side by side to ensure the accuracy, relevance and usefulness of this site's information and tools. "This redesign is another step in our efforts to deliver cutting-edge functions and features and provide tools to help people lead healthier lives," says Dr. Harms.
