Tetralogy of Fallot

Illustration showing components of tetralogy of Fallot

Tetralogy of Fallot (fuh-LOE) is a combination of four heart abnormalities. The defects typically are a hole between the lower chambers of the heart (ventricular septal defect, or VSD); a faulty valve that obstructs blood flow (pulmonary valve stenosis); a misplaced aorta, the large vessel that delivers oxygen-rich blood the body; and a thickened right ventricular wall (right ventricular hypertrophy). Tetralogy of Fallot is one of the heart defects that may affect people with DiGeorge syndrome.
