Get StartedHow you prepare
By Mayo Clinic staffNo special preparation is necessary to do a testicular exam. The American Cancer Society recommends doing a monthly testicular exam if you have certain risk factors for testicular cancer, such as an undescended testicle, certain congenital abnormalities, previous testicular cancer or a family history of testicular cancer. Some doctors, however, recommend that all men do a monthly testicular self-exam beginning anytime after puberty — preferably at about the same time every month.
